A state of emergency has been declared for serverals areas that have been impacted by the recent California wildfires. These areas are now protected by an insurance moratorium on non-renewals.
What this means: if you live in an area that has fallen under the State of Emergency Declaration you have rights! You are protected for non-renewals and insurance cancellation for a year.
If you insurance company attempts to cancel or not renew your insurance coverage, you may get help from the insurance commissioner’s office.

- July 16, 2021 Declaration (Lava & Beckwourth Complex Fires including Dotta and Sugar)
- July 23, 2021 Declaration (Dixie, Fly and Tamarack Fires)
- August 5, 2021 Declaration (Antelope and River Fires)
- August 10, 2021 Declaration (McFarland, Monument and Dixie Fires)
- August 17, 2021 Declaration (Caldor Fire)
